How to make: A Bassinet Diaper Cake
Hi all !!
I haven't posted for a long time! Sorry for that, I've started working full time and I don't have much 'Me time' anymore.
I'm finally managing to have more 'me time' so here I am !
So my sister in law had her beautiful baby boy & I made (with a little help of my husband) a bassinet diaper cake!!! (she can still use all the diapers!)
It's something different than the normal gifts you give someone who just gave birth.
It's something more original & more personal (because I made it myself)
It's very easy to make, everybody can make it !
(I'm not a professional, I do it my way & I like it this way)
321, here we go!
- We start off by getting everything we need to make it.
A box (I have a shoebox), scissors, diapers, elastics, a piece of fabric (I took white because it blends with my colors), tape & ribbons of any color you like (I have Blue for a boy) |
- Take a diaper and roll it up, secure it with an elastic. Do this with mostly all of the diapers... I just made a few & when I noticed I needed more, I made a few more.
- Take the shoe box and the fabric, we are going to 'wrap' the box with the fabric, so it looks better then just a 'box'
I only cover the edges because this is the only thing you can see when the diapers are around and on it.
I first tried the fabric on the box, then cut it, so it wasn't as big, and could fit better.
Once it's cut (see pic 3) you'll see it fits alot better.
Now take tape to secure it everywhere.
To make it easier to hold & tape the fabric, just put a few pieces of tape on your table so you just have to take it!
I just made sure my corners were looking good & if it was secure enough on the back.
On the last pic you see how it looks like when this part is finished.
Now we have a 'pretty' box.
- Place the diapers you rolled up around the box.
Take your ribbon & place this around to secure it.
Now make a tie/knot to make sure it's really secure.
For this I had a little help from my husband, this is really tricky, you need to be sure that when you lift up your box the diapers can't move...
Let someone help you to make the tie/knot.
When this is done you can make sure your ribbon is on top of every elastic (of the diapers)
- For a little extra you can make a bow.
Just take a piece of ribbon and make it double.
Place your finger in the middle and secure it with tape.
Now you have a little bow!
Place this on top of the tie/knot and cut the large pieces of ribbon.
- To make this bassinet complete you take the lid of the shoe box and cut it in half.
Place this inside the box, against the edges.
Now place diapers to cover everything!
Secure these diapers again with ribbon.
Let someone help you to secure this very well.
Always try to lift the 'bassinet' to see no diapers fall. (So you know it's secure enough)
The back is looking really weir now, so I just pushed 4 more rolled diapers in it so it looks like everything else (diapers, diapers everywhere!!!)
- The 'bassinet' looks really empty now, you can take a teddy bear with a blanket to put it inside or you can use your remaining diapers to make a matress & baby out of it.
For the baby I just took one rolled up diaper (painted a face on it) & put a ribbon around the elastic & then I took another diaper and placed it around him/her like a sleeping bag and again, ribbon!
I put the diaper baby on the diaper matress & made a diaper blanker.
So many diapers...
- We are Finished !!!
You can make it like you want it, with the colors & stuff inside.
Have fun making it !
Little June wants diapers... |

How to make: Pasta Carbonara
Hi all !

My husband is a cook, but he's working all day so I'm the cook at home.
I'm going to show you today how I make Pasta Carbonara.
(I'm not a proffesional, I do it my way & I like it this way)

My husband is a cook, but he's working all day so I'm the cook at home.
I'm going to show you today how I make Pasta Carbonara.
(I'm not a proffesional, I do it my way & I like it this way)
321, here we go!
- So first I always take all the ingredients I need, to make it.(I'm making this for me and June, so it's for +/- 2 persons)
Eggs, pasta, grated Parmesan cheese, oil, cream, diced bacon |
- Take a pot with water to boil it. (I add here oil and salt)
When the water is boiling, add the pasta.
Then you wait for the time that says the package, mine said 12 minutes.
- When you are waiting for the pasta, you can bake the bacon.
Take a pan to fry your bacon (I took one package of 100 gr. see first picture)
& add garlic ( I only had this kind of garlic but garlic cloves, finely chopped is better)
- Now you take the eggs, cream & grated parmesan cheese.
Mix these 3 ingredient.
First you take the 2 eggs and stir it very good.
Then you add the cream and stir again.
And at last you add the grated parmesan cheese.
- When the pasta is ready you take a strainer & put the pasta in it.
Then shake with the strainer so the water will be removed.
Then I always put cold water on top of it & shake this off.
- Now everything is ready & you can put it all together!
So first you take your pasta.
Put the bacon over it.
Put the sauce -> eggs/cream/grated parmesan cheese over it & stir.
Somtimes it's good, but sometimes the 'sauce' is to liquid (like everything is swimming in it)
If I have that I just put my pot again on the stove & keep stiring until i see that it's not swimming anymore in it. (see the picture)
READY !!!
Enjoy your dinner !

Vacation France (Ardeche) 2014
So we went on vacation to France for 10 days !
We went to the region of Ardeche, it's so beautifull there.
I will put all the names of the places with the pictures.
note: I made all these pictures
This is the 2nd time we have been on vacation here with the 3 of us.
You will clearly see a difference, June is older & Dave and me aren't so fat anymore.
We rented a house in Sablières. It was a little far to ride everytime. First we had to ride 30min. trough mountains to reach some 'living' place.
And from there we went to look for places...
The first day we rested a lot, we were so tired of the trip to here. It was a 10-12 hours drive through the night...
We went to the store to buy some food and we did a barbecue !!!
The next day we stayed at home again to swim in the swimming pool and see what was around us, There wasn't so much...
This was the first time for June she went in a pool, we made a video (I will post this later)
She loves everything with water now !
Then for the next days we went away, seeing villages, looking for beautiful places, swimming in rivers & sunning, ...
There have to be always a few family pics !
& of course lots of June pics !!!
This year she had more fun, she's now 18 months & she had a great time!
She loved playing with stones & water.
Dave found this stone, we are going to make a necklace of it for June, with her name on it.
One day we went driving just to see if we found anything and we found this Beautifull place, with waterfalls & stuff
& then it was our last day ...
It was a really fun vacation, but I am happy I'm back home !

Gamescom 2014 (with pictures)
This is a little late blog about Gamescom (it was a few weeks ago)
This year we went for the 2nd time in a row to Gamescom !!!
It was so much fun!
We didn't find a hotel last minute and because of Dave's work, we only went 1 day like last year...
Hopefully we can go more days next year, one day is way to short !
We woke up at 5am to leave at 6am to Cologne.
Around 9-10 am we were finaly there and we could go in as one of the first people. (we were in the 2nd wave to go inside!!!)
At this moment there weren't so many people inside yet
Because we were excited for oculus rift (last year you had to wait way to long) we thought if we are so early inside maybe we didn't have to wait that long?
So we went there first, and we still had to wait 40 min there... But it was well worth it !
I was a noob, I didn't really understand at first but yeah :p (I was not used to it)
Dave had problems with his game at first so he started a little later...
But it was a lot of fun!
After this game we went looking for the Smite booth.
We played one game and we won !!! (& got the convenction skin of Guan Yu)
after this we went from area to area looking at every booth.
We saw many games....
and of course cosplayers..
And we'll finish with a picture to show you how many people there were at Gamescom 2014!
